GeMedix公司成立于1997年，總部設(shè)在英國(guó)鈕馬克特，毗鄰劍橋大學(xué)。作為以劍橋大學(xué)為中心的高科技孵化基地中的一員，公司旨在研發(fā)、生產(chǎn)與銷售一系列采用DNA重組技術(shù)的生物藥品（治療性蛋白質(zhì)）。我們按照與國(guó)際制藥標(biāo)準(zhǔn)一致的質(zhì)量體系，以使我們成為這些生物藥品的全球供應(yīng)商。公司的創(chuàng)始者與董事局主席Dr.KimTan博士，在1995年確立了這一經(jīng)營(yíng)理念，在對(duì)中國(guó)科學(xué)院上海生物化學(xué)研究所進(jìn)行科研資助后，現(xiàn)已獲得六種生物藥品的生產(chǎn)權(quán)。
技術(shù)
　　公司已取得生產(chǎn)六種生物藥品（治療性蛋白質(zhì)）的權(quán)利，采用的是DNA重組技術(shù)—使被重組的細(xì)菌、哺乳動(dòng)物或酵母菌的一個(gè)細(xì)胞產(chǎn)生一種特定的蛋白質(zhì)，這種細(xì)胞一旦生長(zhǎng)，就可大量繁殖，而蛋白質(zhì)即可被提取和凈化，再以商業(yè)規(guī)模制造分別以不同蛋白質(zhì)為核心的生物藥品。

　　公司的合作伙伴為中國(guó)科學(xué)院上海生物化學(xué)研究所。上海生物化學(xué)研究所是中國(guó)久負(fù)盛名的生命科學(xué)研究機(jī)構(gòu)，1958年成立以來(lái)，從世界首次人工合成牛胰島素到研制乙型肝炎基因工程疫苗，碩果累累，被譽(yù)為中國(guó)生命科學(xué)的旗艦。依托上海生物化學(xué)研究所強(qiáng)大的科研開(kāi)發(fā)能力，將為GeneMedix的可持續(xù)發(fā)展奠定堅(jiān)實(shí)的基礎(chǔ)。

　　公司在華投資企業(yè)為上海東昕生物技術(shù)有限公司（SHANGHAI GENEMEDIX BIOTECHNOLOGY CO， LTD）。上海東昕生物技術(shù)有限公司坐落于上海浦東張江高科技園區(qū)，公司對(duì)其的投資金額總計(jì)將達(dá)到670萬(wàn)英鎊（約合7，370萬(wàn)人民幣）。上海東昕生物技術(shù)有限公司已獲國(guó)家藥品監(jiān)督管理局的GMP認(rèn)證，具備一流的生物藥品生產(chǎn)能力，投放中國(guó)市場(chǎng)的第一個(gè)藥品將是—GM—CSF（重組人粒細(xì)胞--巨噬細(xì)胞集落刺激因子），商品名：紐適迪。
GeneMedix公司誕生以來(lái)取得了高速發(fā)展，其股票分別在倫敦股票交易所和新加坡股票交易所上市，作為第一家在新加坡股票交易所上市的生命科學(xué)公司，GeneMedix引起了投資者的廣泛興趣。
　　在2000年，我們聘用了有經(jīng)驗(yàn)的高層管理人員，擴(kuò)大了董事會(huì)，在上海獲得了一個(gè)生產(chǎn)基地，遷入了位于薩福克郡鈕馬克特的新址，并發(fā)展了五個(gè)新產(chǎn)品。
　　在交易所申請(qǐng)上市時(shí)，我們制定了一個(gè)詳細(xì)的發(fā)展計(jì)劃。這包括到2001年上半年結(jié)束時(shí)，用在中國(guó)的設(shè)備生產(chǎn)我們的第一個(gè)產(chǎn)品GM—CSF。隨后，對(duì)上海的設(shè)備進(jìn)行擴(kuò)建以提高生產(chǎn)能力，提升產(chǎn)品質(zhì)量以符合國(guó)際制藥標(biāo)準(zhǔn)。這些產(chǎn)品的初期銷售地是中國(guó)、東南亞、印度和歐洲。
　　長(zhǎng)期的策略是在5-6年的時(shí)間里，在分布于中國(guó)歐洲和東南亞的工廠，按照國(guó)際制藥標(biāo)準(zhǔn)把全部7種產(chǎn)品都投入生產(chǎn)和銷售，這正好與這類產(chǎn)品在歐洲市場(chǎng)的專利期限時(shí)間一致。這就能使GeneMedix在未來(lái)能迅速滿足整個(gè)歐洲市場(chǎng)的需求。

Reliance GeneMedix Plc. is a UK and Ireland based, globally focused biopharmaceutical company and part of the Reliance Life Sciences Group, based in India. Reliance GeneMedix specialises in the development and manufacture of cost-effective treatments for some of the world's most serious diseases. Reliance GeneMedix, incorporated in the UK, operates out of Tullamore, Ireland.
The strategy of Reliance GeneMedix is to work towards the development of a portfolio of recombinant therapeutic proteins. Its current focus is on developing and marketing biosimilars in European markets.
