美國Clontech  www.clontech.com www.takara.com.cn  www.takara-bio.com  www.takara.co.jp 2005年7月1日,日本最大的生物工程公司TaKaRa公司宣布花費6千萬美元成功從BD Biosciences收購Clontech單元。此收購計劃已經(jīng)于2005年8月底完成,Clontech已成為TaKaRa全資子公司。
美國Clontech是1984年由華人方瑞賢創(chuàng)辦的,一度曾經(jīng)是眾多海外華人的驕傲。因為方瑞賢創(chuàng)辦的是全美第一家,也是亞裔創(chuàng)辦的最大的分子生物公司,更重要的是Clontech 建立了生物技術(shù)中建立基因文庫的模式。在Clontech 被BD收購時已有四百名員工,包括六十五位博士,擁有五十多項專利,產(chǎn)品已達(dá)兩千多種,堪稱全球數(shù)一、數(shù)二的基因庫,提供全球三十多個國家基因?qū)嶒炇一蚴菍W(xué)術(shù)界做研究之用。該公司有曾于一九九四、一九九五、一九九八及一九九九年被圣荷西及舊金山商業(yè)報紙選為一百個成長最快的私人公司。Clontech公司一直銳意進(jìn)取,其開發(fā)的產(chǎn)品多次獲得全美R&D100金獎。產(chǎn)品范圍包括基因識別、基因表達(dá)、基因功能研究,大家熟悉的Smart Race,Altas DNA矩陣,SSH消減雜交、MTN膜、多色熒光蛋白載體、MatchMaker酵母雙雜交系列也在其中。
TaKaRa于1979年從生產(chǎn)限制性內(nèi)切酶起步,首先將PCR技術(shù)引入日本市場,并逐漸成為日本生命科學(xué)研究領(lǐng)域領(lǐng)先的公司。TaKaRa在2004財政年度試劑銷售達(dá)到118億日元(1億美元左右),其中85%的收益來自于日本本土市場,其他有部分來自于中國等亞洲市場。
此次收購會給Takara帶來以下收益:極大地豐富Takara原來的產(chǎn)品線;迅速擴(kuò)增TaKaRa在歐美市場的份額,因為Clontech 70%以上的銷售是來自于歐美,而Takara 85%的收益來自于日本本土市場。本次收購將全面擴(kuò)展日本產(chǎn)品在歐美的銷售。另外Takara將整合并加強(qiáng)日本本土和位于美國的Clontech研發(fā)部,加快產(chǎn)品的開發(fā),提高Takara在全球生命科學(xué)研究市場的份額。
