Raman Systems, Inc. started in 1997 out of the Boston University's Photonics Research Center. Initial applications included design and development of chemical sensors for detecting low concentration contaminants in water affording portability and field deployment. The company was incorporated as a Massachusetts corporation in 1999, and moved into its own facility in Watertown, MA. Following rapid expansion and sales growth, the company moved in the Spring of 2005 to the high-tech corridor of Austin, TX , where it is now based.
Raman Systems has since diversified into delivering compact and portable Raman spectrometers for most routine chemical analysis in the research lab, or on-field. Its combination of performance and price has set a standard for Raman instrumentation and brought the very powerful technique from the high end research domain right into the general laboratory and industrial warehouses and quality control departments.
RSI has designed and developed three flagship products, the R-3000, the RSLPlus and the RPC-1, each designed with a specific end-user in mind. The company also makes its own lasers, sampling accessories and software, thus providing a fully integrated compact chemical analysis system.
